We are seeking a proactive, culturally competent, and mission-driven Community Outreach Lawyer to serve as a bridge between our organization and the communities we serve. In this role, you will be the face of our legal services, responsible for building relationships with community stakeholders, conducting educational workshops, and identifying unmet legal needs in underserved populations. If you possess a passion for social justice, a talent for public speaking, and the ability to simplify complex legal concepts for diverse audiences, this is a vital role that ensures our legal aid initiatives are accessible, community-informed, and impactful.

Key Responsibilities
Community Relationship Building: Develop and maintain partnerships with local community organizations, schools, religious centers, and grassroots groups to foster trust and facilitate service delivery.

Legal Education & Workshops: Design and lead public-facing legal workshops (e.g., housing rights, immigration, civil rights) that empower community members with actionable information.

Needs Assessment: Conduct ongoing outreach to identify systemic legal barriers in the community, providing data and insights to the legal team to shape future service priorities.

Strategic Advocacy: Serve as an organizational spokesperson, representing the community’s interests at local government meetings, community hearings, and other public forums.

Accessible Service Design: Simplify intake processes, documentation, and educational materials to ensure legal services are low-barrier and culturally responsive.

Crisis & Response Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact during community crises, coordinating rapid-response legal support or information sessions as needed.

Ambassadorial Presence: Maintain a consistent, visible presence in the community to build brand awareness and ensure that our services are known and trusted by those who need them most.

Requirements & Qualifications
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree; active bar membership in the relevant jurisdiction is required.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in legal aid, public interest law, community organizing, or public defense.

Technical Skills:

Strong aptitude for public speaking, curriculum development, and facilitation.

Proficiency in tracking outreach metrics and community engagement data.

Ability to interpret complex statutes and translate them into plain language.
